Webflow
Umtal measures how often AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Google's AI Overview mention a business, and writes the pages it should publish. With Webflow connected, a finished text goes into your blog as a draft item with one click. You review it and publish it yourself.
Umtal's interface is in Norwegian (Bokmål). The account owner can switch it to English under Meg → Konto (Me → Account).
What Umtal does
Umtal can
- Find the site on your business's address
- Find your blog collection and its rich text field
- Create one draft item per advice text, when you click
Umtal never
- Publishes a site or an item
- Changes or deletes existing items, pages or settings
- Reads the content of your other sites
Webflow takes the advice as drafts in your blog, not as pages of their own. Umtal writes the title, the slug and the text: headings, paragraphs and lists, as clean HTML without scripts or links.
Permissions
Umtal asks for three scopes, and uses four endpoints of the Webflow Data API v2.
| Scope | Used for | Endpoint |
|---|---|---|
sites:read | Find the site on your business's address. Read only, so Umtal cannot publish a site. | GET /v2/sites |
cms:read | Find your blog collection and its fields. | GET /v2/sites/{site_id}/collectionsGET /v2/collections/{collection_id} |
cms:write | Create the draft item, with isDraft: true. The staged endpoint only, never /items/live. | POST /v2/collections/{collection_id}/items |
No workspace scopes, no custom code, and no authorized_user:read. Your Umtal account is your identity.
Before you start
- Your site has a blog collection in the CMS. Umtal looks for a collection with a blog-like name, such as Blog, Posts, Articles or News.
- The collection has a rich text field for the text.
- No other field is required, apart from Name and Slug. A required image field stops the draft, because Umtal cannot fill it. Make it optional under CMS in Webflow.
- You own the Umtal account. Only the owner can connect a website.
Connect Webflow
Open Autopiloten (the Autopilot, under Meg) in Umtal, and choose Webflow. There are two ways in.
Sign in with Webflow
- Click Koble til Webflow (Connect Webflow). A Webflow window opens.
- Sign in, choose the site on your business's address, and click Authorize.
- The window closes, and the card says Koblet til Webflow (Connected to Webflow).
If you click Cancel in Webflow, nothing is connected, and Umtal says so.
Use a site API token
If the Webflow card shows a field for an API token, or you prefer a token:
- Open your site's settings in Webflow, and go to Apps & integrations.
- Under API access, click Generate API token. Call it «Umtal», and give it CMS: Read and write and Sites: Read-only.
- Copy the token, paste it into Umtal, and click Koble til Webflow (Connect Webflow). Umtal finds your blog before it says the site is connected.
Create a draft
- Open Råd (Advice) in Umtal, and pick an advice card.
- Click Gjør dette for meg (Do this for me). The advice becomes a draft in your Webflow blog.
- Open the blog under CMS in Webflow. The new item is marked Draft. Add a picture of your own, and publish when you are happy.
Some advice asks a question first, for example your prices or opening hours. Answer it, and the text is complete before it goes to Webflow.
Disconnect and revoke
- In Umtal: click Koble fra (Disconnect) on the Webflow card under Autopiloten. Umtal deletes its copy of the token at once.
- In Webflow, after signing in: remove Umtal under Apps & integrations in your workspace or site settings.
- In Webflow, with a site token: delete the token «Umtal» under API access in the site settings.
If you revoke access or uninstall the app in Webflow first, Umtal deletes its copy the next time Webflow refuses the token, and asks you to connect again.
Data and privacy
| What | How Umtal handles it |
|---|---|
| OAuth token | Held by Nango, our OAuth provider (SOC 2 Type II), encrypted at rest. Umtal's own database never stores it. |
| Site API token | Encrypted with a key kept outside the database. Never shown in the app, in logs or in exports. |
| Where calls run | Server-side only. A token never reaches the browser, a log or an AI model. |
| What Umtal keeps | Who connected and when, and the site's id and name. Nothing it reads from your CMS is stored. |
| Deletion | On disconnect, on revocation in Webflow, and when you delete your Umtal account. |
Umtal is made by Ascend Artificial AS in Norway. The full privacy policy and terms are in Norwegian: umtal.no/personvern and umtal.no/vilkaar.
Troubleshooting
| Umtal says | What to do |
|---|---|
| We found no blog in that site | Make a blog collection under CMS in Webflow first. |
| Your blog requires a field we cannot fill | Make the field, often an image, optional under CMS in Webflow, and try again. |
| The token may not use the CMS | Make a new token with CMS: Read and write and Sites: Read-only. |
| We did not find your website with this token | Make the token in the settings of the site on your business's address. |
| Webflow no longer lets us in | Access was revoked or has expired. Click Connect Webflow again. |
| Your browser blocked the Webflow window | Allow pop-up windows for umtal.no, and click again. |
| Webflow took it, but not as a draft | Check the blog under CMS before you publish the site. |
